NATURAL DISASTER - FIRST AID TEAM

ACTIONS BY THE FIRST AID TEAM LEADER

1. Contact the Emergency Control Center (ECC) and determine the location of the injury / medical emergency.
2. Respond to the first aid team assembly point and brief the first aiders on actions required.
3. Respond to the scene of the incident and set up a triarge area (on-site first aid station) in a suitable position safely away from the danger area.
4. Notify the Emergency Control Center (ECC) and other emergency team leaders of the location of the triarge area.
5. Treat the medical emergency at the triarge area. Notify the ECC to summons an Ambulance if deemed necessary.
6. Constantly survey the conditions around the scene of the incident to ensure the triarge area remains a safe venue.

1. Obtain the necessary First Aid Kits and Equipment that might be required at the scene of the incident.
2. Respond to the scene of the incident and on instruction from the First Aid Team Leader, set up the triarge area.
3. Treat the injury or medical condition at the triarge area.
4. DO NOT under any circumstances enter the danger area where the incident occurred - wait for the fire team to rescue any persons from the area and bring them out to the triarge area.
5. If a person requires urgent advanced medical attention he/she must be reported to the ECC immediately.
6. Obtain details from ALL persons treated and report them to the ECC. Injury on Duty (IOD) documentation need to be compiled and submitted later if further treatment is required for Workmen's Compensation (WCF).
