NATURAL DISASTER - EMPLOYEES
When an employee is injured in the workplace, do the following:
NON-SERIOUS INJURIES
- ALL injuries must be reported, irrespective of how serious you consider it to be.
- Report to your first aider and obtain primary treatment.
- The First Aider will determine if it is required to report to a clinic or hospital.
- Submit a Workmen's Compensation Claim Form for the injury.
- DO NOT leave your workplace prior to reporting to injury. Injuries not reported while on duty cannot be claimed at a later stage..
SERIOUS INJURIES
Employees witnessing a serious injury must do the following:
- Immediately notify the First Aider.
- Stand by the injured employee and make him/her comfortable without moving the injured person.
- Do not allow gathering around the injured person. Allow space to "breath".
- Provide assistance to the first aiders until requested to clear the area.
What NOT to do in the event of an injury:
- If you did not have any formal first aid training, do NOT try to treat the injury yourself.
- While assisting an injured person, DO NOT move the person until the first aiders arrive.
- Do NOT interfere with the first aiders when they arrive at the scene of the incident.
