BOMB THREAT - FIRST AID TEAM
On receiving an alarm of a fire in your area, the first aiders must do the following:
ACTIONS BY THE FIRST AID TEAM LEADER
- Contact the Emergency Control Center (ECC) and determine the location of the fire.
- Respond to the first aid team assembly point and brief the first aiders on actions required.
- Respond to the scene of the fire and set up a triarge area (on-site first aid station) in a suitable venue safely away from the fire and smoke.
- Notify the Emergency Control Center (ECC) and other emergency team leaders of the location of the triarge area.
- Determine if there are any persons injured and treat them at the triarge area. Notify the ECC to summons an Ambulance if deemed necessary.
- Constantly survey the conditions around the scene of the fire to ensure the triarge area remains a safe venue.
- Once the fire has been extinguished, keep the first aiders on standby to treat any fire team members for possible smoke inhalation or burn wounds.
FIRST AIDERS - RESPONDING TO THE SCENE OF THE FIRE
- Obtain the necessary First Aid Kits and Equipment that might be required at the scene of a fire.
- Respond to the scene of the fire and on instruction from the First Aid Team Leader, set up the triarge area.
- Treat any persons who report to the triarge area or who requires assistance.
- DO NOT under any circumstances enter the fire area - wait for the fire team to rescue any persons from the area and bring them out to the triarge area.
- If a person requires urgent advanced medical attention he/she must be reported to the ECC immediately.
- Obtain details from ALL persons treated and report them to the ECC. Injury on Duty (IOD) documentation need to be compiled and submitted later if further treatment is required for Workmen's Compensation (WCF).
